My background varies from education in management to supervisory management, to construction, or getting dirty and making the project work.

I always thought if there was a problem there must be a way of fixing it, That’s the way I approach the publication business, I want the best product for our readers and advertisers, Competing in events is like business, you must do your research, train and follow through to make sure you and everyone finishes, My family background is strong in athletics, my dad is an original Ironman, run across the United States, and has done well over 250 Marathons and Ultra-Marathons, This is some big shoes to fill, But I have done 5 Ironmans, 41 Marathons, 35 ½ iron distances and countless Olympic and sprint triathlons, as well as adventure races, cross-country ski races and ultra marathons, I have a motto “If someone I know wants to do any kind of event that I will do it” It is my belief that anyone can do anything if they are mentally and physically prepared, At what level, that’s for you to decide, My family is not fast but has the goal to get it done “It must end”, setting goals are great but are they followed through, no matter what happens, who is to know, When my dad ran across the United States everyone promised everything, but as the support broke down, he could of gave up, he said he would do it and he did, great inspiration “normal people doing extraordinary things”, reach and experience all that you can, we only get 1 life to do it right.

Multi-sport has many different meanings for many different people. I completed my first multi-sport event in 1983. A friend encouraged me to participate in a swim, run, and bike feat. The event was not performed in the same order as the normal run, bike and swim we all know well today. When it came to training for this event, my running and biking were strong, but my swimming left a lot to be desired! Excited to train in the pool, I planned to hit it hard! I mentioned to the lifeguard I was training for the Triathlon and needed some help with my swimming. She said no problem, and handed me a kickboard! Well, I found out a lot about swimming that day. I could not even do 1 length! It hurt! But when I did get to race day, it was a blast! I truly enjoyed the event, especially the socializing that followed the effort.

Since then, I have competed in over 120 multi-sport events including three Ironman competitions. I dedicated my first Ironman event to my Dad, who passed away from ALS the year before. Bert Krawczyk was not only my Dad, but my mentor as well. The whole family made the road trip to Florida to cheer me on. The support made a huge difference and it was a very special day. And this is just my story! There are so many incredible people out there making the commitment to persevere for themselves and others, whether it’s a sprint or an Ironman.

After training for a number of years solo, I ran into a total viber from California named Nate Smith. Nate had the energy to put a triathlon team together called Headhunter Multi-Sport located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As members congregated at one of the Headhunter club get togethers. A fellow member, (Warren Knoll) proached me with the idea of having a directory of Multi-Sport Events. We knew we could put it together with his sales experience and my advertising knowledge, but we had no idea what we were getting into! We have learned so much in the course of creating the last three issues. The commitment, the ups and downs, the excitement, the challenge, the lack of sleep, you name it… we’ve experienced it. But the things we’ve seen, the people we’ve met in the industry, and the places we’ve gone have led us on an incredible journey, and that journey continues each day. Always thinking of new ideas and strategies to provide the best directory for experienced athletes, newcomers and anyone getting ready to jump on in and go the fitness route. The challenge is in front of us each and every day. Sometimes we may feel like we’re really out there struggling, but that is all just a part of the challenge. It’s kind of like an Ironman, you get out there and get the job done! U.S. Multi-Sport looks forward to the continuing challenge. Have a fun and memorable event season. Stop by and say “HI” or let us know your memorable experiences on our blogs @ www.usmultisport.com

Train consistently,
Hubie
